“If we value the pursuit of knowledge we must be free to follow wherever that search may lead us”, what a wasted bird! I forgot the quote immediately after reading it. Compelled by “Googley” spirits, I found out Adlai Stevenson Jr. quoted this. Really, I hoped research would lead me somewhere, and it did. Adlai Stevenson the 1st was vice president to Grover Cleveland, Adlia Stevenson Jr was the 31st Governor of Illinois, Adlai Stevenson the 3rd was a U.S. Senator, Adlia Stevenson the 4th was a journalist who, after much debate, named his son Adlia Stevenson the 5th, who is now 18 years old. Oh no! I seriously just realized that I just valued the pursuit of knowledge, and I didn’t expect it to lead me to find this! Oops….. (ADDED BONUS!!! My awesome friend Nathan G. just hooked me up! What do you know, Sufjan Stevens wrote a song about ole Adlai.)
I almost took a predictable-ish picture of me feeding my Grande, 2 pump Mocha, Caramel Frappuccino to this subtly patriotic bird. One might say it was an “Lolz” moment. Looking at this bird, I know I’m supposed to think about “My Country Tis of Thee”, Obama, or something along those lines, but I don’t. I think:
- I neeeeeeeeed to see that bird in front of my trailer. In my yard. Everyday.
- I neeeeeeeeed to climb on that and pretend I’m flying.
- Marahute!
Maybe one day when these eagles are covered in bubble gum, cussing, pornographic sketches, and ironically some bird poop, and GSU no longer wants them, then, I will be able to take them home with me.
